Weixuan Li, ASH PhD researcher ended in the second place of the 2022 UvA edition of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) pitch competition. 3MT® challenges PhD researchers to pitch their PhD research to a non-specialist audience in a three-minute video.

The 3MT® competition was developed by the University of Queensland and is held annually by 900 universities in 85 countries worldwide. 3MT® challenges PhD researchers to pitch their PhD research to a non-specialist audience in a three-minute video.

PhD researchers from five UvA faculties were invited to take part in the 2022 UvA edition of the competition. Participants received training and coaching to produce the best video. Three candidates from each faculty have been selected for the UvA 3MT® final which took place on 8 September 2022. The runner-up received 500 euro prize money.

The following three PhD candidates from the Faculty of Humanities took part in the final: Weixuan Li (Deep mapping painters and the art market in 17th century Amsterdam), Sabine Waasdorp (Shaping Spanishness) and Wenwen Guan (Metadiscourse helps your audience think in the intended way).
