Innovative research and education in the humanities

The Faculty of Humanities hosts several Labs, merged under the same roof on the borders of the University Quarter. Housed in the Bushuis on the Kloveniersburgwal, the 4D Research Lab, CREATE, Digital Methods Initiative, Music Lab, SignLab, Speech Lab and the Conservation and Restoration Labs together provide a place for innovative research and education in the humanities, and an inspiring environment for researchers, students and partners.

The Humanities Labs collect measurements and data to answer research questions central to various scientific disciplines within the humanities and develop methodological bridges for applying technology within the humanities.

We are open to new labs within the Faculty that have raised funds or have long experience with a lab model for research. You can contact us via humanitieslabs@uva.nl.

Workshop space

The large space on the ground floor at Humanities Labs is meant for workshops, seminars, exhibitions, strategic sessions and meet-ups that relate to Humanities Labs. Affiliated researchers and students can contact the labs and request a reservation.
