The exception to the rule?
Language consists of general grammar rules applied to specific words. But every rule has its exceptions. In this project, Eva van Lier will investigate how speakers of various languages use their knowledge about such exceptions when constructing sentences.
The Vidi gives researchers who have already spent several years doing postdoctoral research the opportunity to develop their own innovative lines of research and set up a dedicated research group.
This year a total of 443 researchers applied for a Vidi grant from NWO, of which 85 were successful. Each researcher will receive up to €800,000.
