In this fifteen-minute wayang performance, two shadow puppets confront colonial and environmental histories while embodying a feminist spirit of resistance and renewal. The installation includes a hand-painted wooden frame filled with imagery highlighting colonial trade, activism, and environmental justice.
About the Artist:
Born in Surakarta, Indonesia (1982), Aji is a Berlin-based contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, performance, and installation. His work often reimagines traditional Javanese storytelling in contemporary contexts. He has exhibited widely in Europe and Indonesia and leads the SchattenLabor Project in Berlin, exploring light, shadow, and imagination through collaborative art.
