This workshop is in preparation for the Spring into History event on 9 May. For those of you who’d like to perform but are in need of ideas for how to present their research in a creative way, we are organising a preparatory creative workshop afternoon on 26 March from 12.30 to 17.00 in Bushuis E1.01D and E1.02. Coffee and tea will be provided, in addition to more information on the event itself.
Please let us know by 21 March if you’d like to join the workshop by sending an email to Elsa Lucassen.
You are of course also very welcome to participate in this workshop without performing at the event itself. It is still possible to decide if you want to present something after the workshop.
Voluntary preparatory workshop afternoon
• Theatre (Anna-Rose Shack)
The first session of the afternoon is a theatre workshop focused on the building blocks of storytelling. The aim of the workshop is to stimulate creativity, and to develop skills that can be transferred to presentations and teaching. Expect a relaxed, supportive, and playful environment from which we will spring into history!
• Comedy (Marika Constant)
This session is a workshop on the basics of improv comedy. We’ll explore how to identify and amplify the ‘funny’ in any idea, and learn skills that can help us more generally to be active listeners and flexible, entertaining presenters. And first and foremost, improv is all about supportive, silly fun, so come ready to dive in!
• Creative writing (Kristine Johanson)
This session explores ‘creative writing’ and the ways it can be useful for writing in general, creative or not. It will focus on several writing exercises and will serve as inspiration for the writing of a creative performance piece for the event.
We hope to see you either at the workshop on the 26th of March, or at the Spring into History event on 9 May!
Let us know if you want to participate!
All the best,
Elsa Lucassen, Anna-Rose Shack, Joris Ammerlaan, Fraser Raeburn, Federica Colella, Jasper Bongers, Kevan DeCuypere and Eva van Kemenade
