Are you unsure about what to do after your defense, or are you curious about how your fellow PhD's have experienced the first steps of their career? Then come attend a career lunch with an alumnus! Along with a small group of your fellow PhD graduates, you will have the chance to ask an alumnus all kinds of questions about their career experience.
Each career lunch invites a different alumnus, so no matter what you want to do after your defense, you'll likely find an alumnus who has the answers you seek. No preparation is needed, all that is required of you is to think of a few questions you'd like to ask them!
The career lunch is paid for by the UvA, so use this opportunity to relax and network with your peers over a delicious sandwich or drink! If a particular career lunch seems interesting to you, make sure to sign up as soon as possible, as each lunch only has a few seats available! If a lunch is full, then sign up for the waiting list, and we will mail you if a spot is open.
About the alumnus:
English translation follows below
I am currently a RDM Specialist at the University Library of the UvA, providing advice regarding all facets of data management and publication. This switch from research to research support was helped by my prior experience as a researcher. I have done my PhD research at the University of Groningen, which was a comparative historical-linguistic research into the emergence of expressions in epistemic modality in Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish languages. Additionally, I was a postdoc at the Univeristy of Antwerp for four years, and pursued a postdoc project for two years at the University of Oslo. I have also done short/freelance linguistic activities in between roles.
If the lunch is already full, please register on the waiting list. We will contact you if a spot opens up.
