The story of Amsterdam cannot be told without the Jews, the story of the Jews cannot be told without the city of Amsterdam. For centuries Amsterdam is a pluriform city in many ways. In this two-part television documentary we join Irene Zwiep and Bart Wallet in a tour of the city, visiting buildings and sites where Jewish history has shaped the history of Amsterdam. Even today Amsterdam is nicknamed Mokum which means ‘place’ in Jiddish. MOKUM will be broadcasted on 7 and 14 March 22:30 – 23:00 on NPO2.
