In his lecture, Louie Dean Valencia (NEH Distinguished Professor in the Humanities) complicates understandings of how film was used to promote fascist ideologies and how that regulation worked in Spain by explaining how a film written by a Spanish Civil War exile about a transgender solder-nun made it through censorship in both the 1940s and 1960s.
