Some employees use systems that require a YubiKey to fit the door with an extra lock. You can also use the YubiKey if you do not have a smartphone or prefer not to use it for two-step verification. The YubiKey can be requested from your ICT contact. This necessarily involves certain costs.
The YubiKey is a USB flash drive that you insert into your computer. The button on the USB flash drive then generates a password that is automatically entered in the login screen. You will use the YubiKey when requested to do so by the system to which you wish to log in.
You can only register the YubiKey and have it activated after you receive it. Please follow the steps below.
Go to one of the library desks below during office hours to have your YubiKey activated.
Please bring your activation code, your YuiKey and a valid proof of identity
The desk clerk will check whether your identity match your account details and whether the registered YubiKey is indeed in your possession. The desk clerk activates your YubiKey. You can now log into systems that use two-step verification.
Unable to visit a desk in person?
If you are physically unable to visit a desk or service point, you will be able to phone the ICTS Service Desk to activate your YubiKey. During the call, you will be invited to take part in a Microsoft Teams meeting or someone will supervise the process via remote access using Splashtop.
Visit one of these desks:
Desk library P.C. Hoofthuis
Desk Library Learning Center Roeterseiland desk (REC-H)
If you have lost your YubiKey, simply request a new YubiKey and register it via the SURFconext registration portal. Before registering your new YubiKey in on the SURFconext registration portal, you must delete your old registered YubiKey. To delete your old YubiKey, click on ‘Overview of tokens’ on the registration portal and then click the ‘Delete’ button next to the YubiKey you lost.
