The Amsterdam School for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture (AHM) is happy to announce that Lucy Gaynor is the new AHM PhD representative. In this role, she represents the AHM PhD community in the PhD Council Board, the Graduate Study Committee and the AHM Advisory Board.

Lucy Gaynor, who holds a MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Amsterdam, was offered the 2022 AHM funded PhD position. She started her PhD project Narrating (In)Justice: Historical Expert Witnesses in International Criminal Trials, supervised by Prof. Nanci Adler and Dr. Thijs Bouwknegt, in September 2022.

Gaynor's PhD project is an examination of the production of historical narrative within international criminal trials. The thesis will analyse testimonies of witnesses called as experts on historical matters of context and background at the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda (ICTY and ICTR).
