The Wim Crouwel Chair was established on behalf of the Wim Crouwel Institute, a foundation dedicated to making the heritage of Dutch graphic design accessible for research and education.
Alice Twemlow's research has focused on design criticism, consumption of graphic design, the relationship between design and time, experimental publishing, critical and speculative design, and the nature of design and artistic research and methodologies.
The inaugural lecture will be followed by the 2022 edition of the Wim Crouwel Institute's 'It's All Graphic', held at Pakhuis de Zwijger (Piet Heinkade 179) and devoted to an exploiration of the role of graphic design in problematizing the archive.
